Legacy Customer Profile: Jennifer Carlin-Roth
This year marks the 30th Anniversary of Ski With Kim (SWK). Meaning Kim has skied with A LOT of people, in A LOT of places. Kim's passion is to share her love of skiing with others. As a tribute to the people who have made this dream possible year after year, we are highlighting some of Ski With Kim's most loyal customers.
For the third installment, Ski With Kim does a Q & A with Jennifer Carlin-Roth from Houston, TX.
How long have you been skiing with Kim? I’ve been skiing with Kim for 10 years!
Where did you hear about SWK? I found Kim online and after a phone conversation I really felt confident about skiing with her. I hadn’t skied in very long time, since my spouse does not ski. This was the perfect way for me to get back into a sport I love, in a supportive environment and I’ve been skiing with Kim ever since.
Where have they skied with Kim? I've skied with Kim in Vail every year, sometimes twice a year since 2008. I’ve also skied with her in Crested Butte, Steamboat and Valle Nevado, Chile.
Most notable trips? Valle Nevado was one of the best experiences in my life! Totally outside my comfort zone, but still enough in the zone because I was with Kim. It is an experience I will cherish forever. When you travel with people and spend 24/7 with them they become more than just your ski buddies; they become real friends. One of the most amazing women I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting is Barbara Ward who is 83 and she rips!!!! Some of my best memories are with other amazing women, Janet and Jeanie, laughing at our wipe-outs… laughing so hard I couldn’t get up. I will cherish our time in Valle Nevado, Chile forever – it truly was the trip of a lifetime
Fun memories? I always “love” the trip I’m on and think it’s “the best day ever!” when I’m with Kim.
I will probably stay an advanced intermediate skier due to living in TX and only skiing a few times a year, but I have learned how to ski with much more confidence and grace over the years. I can now ski groomed black slopes with a lot of confidence and speed. I would have never dreamed of that when I started with Kim.
It’s always my favorite day when I get to ski with Kim. She just skis and skis fast, no talking mid run, just lots of turns. I love skiing behind her as it makes me ski my best, smiling and out of breath.
How have your connections and friendships evolved from Ski With Kim? I have made so many life long friends from going on these adventures; people I now talk with and spend time with year round. Janet is in my heart for the way she took me under her wing on the very first trip with Kim, our bond strengthened after going to Chile together. I love Deborah, Jane, Dyan, Maryann and Nicole – we are a motely and unlikely crew; they are my “ski chicks.” We are a constant support system to each other in good times and bad and keep in contact all year. The instructors have also become life long dear friends. Laura in particular is like my sister but only better, because there is no family drama! I can’t tell you how important all of these friendships have become and how blessed I feel to have met and interacted with them through skiing with Kim.
