Helicopter Skiing
with Chugach Powder Guides
Girdwood, Alaska and the Tordrillo Mountain Lodge
The highlight of every season for me is skiing in Alaska. My first trip to AK was in 1991 to compete in the First World Extreme Skiing Championships in Valdez. It was there that I met the owners of Chugach Powder Guides (CPG), Mike Overcast and Dave Hamre, who directed the safety team. I didn't know much about big mountain skiing, so I decided to stay close to these two Alaskans who obviously knew alot. I’ve gained a tremendous amount of knowledge, confidence and respect for these amazing mountains over the past 20 years. There is nothing better than knowing you are being guided by the best; Chugach Powder Guides is a World Class Heli-Ski operation run by the safest guides I’ve ever skied with. These guys are like my brothers and with them we’re able to serve up a ski experience that is exhilarating, safe and unforgettable.
I encourage you to go to www.chugachpowderguides.com and check out all they have to offer.

Girdwood, Alaska
 |
| Greg Harms has been heli-ski guiding since 1990. As a lead guide for CPG, fully certified PSIA ski and snowboard instructor, Level III avalanche forecaster and EMT, Greg is extraordinary at finding that faultless line from a local’s knowledge that is both safe and ideally suited for your ski ability. |
Girdwood, Alaska is located 30 miles south of Anchorage at the base of Alyeska resort. Groups are limited to 4 guests and two guides.
Our lead guide is Greg Harms and I’m your tail guide.
We stay at the Alyeska Hotel at the base of the resort and on down days I guide you on the ski area. Alyeska is one of the steepest resorts in North America. The tram leaves from the Alyeska Hotel and travels over 2,000 feet to the top terminal, with the summit above at over 3,900 ft.
We don’t miss any powder days when we ski with CPG in Girdwood.

Kings and Corn, Tordrillo Mountain Lodge
June in Alaska is the best time of year for corn snow. The lake has thawed and the planes have traded in their skis for floats. The days are long and we can ski and/or fish any time…. even at midnight.
All access is by helicopter, whether we are chasing wild Rainbow Trout, King Salmon or endless runs of perfect corn snow. The lodge is the best place to create a private trip, a family gathering, or join our group if you’re looking for good company.
When we’re not skiing or fishing we are enjoying a soak in the hot tub overlooking the lake, a gourmet meal, or a fine glass of wine on the deck, watching sunsets that last for hours.

“Kim and Greg challenge and teach at the same time. Skiing is once again exciting, not just a way to pass the day.”
Ted Williams
“Having returned to my ordinary “Life after Alaska”, my world seems flat. It is as if the Alaska adventure has erased a dimension from my landscape. Every- thing here seems smaller; less dramatic, and less steep. Even the Rockies seem plain.”
Phil Nourish
“It is such an extraordinary treat to hang with you two and to experience the positive energy you bring to skiing and to life. You make skiing and the outdoors and pushing oneself and laughing and hanging and eating the most magical and rejuvenating experience.”
Margery Feldberg |
