Nick Hill

Nick HillNick Hill, “Hilly”, is a native Australian who grew up skiing the Snowy Mountains. When Hilly was old enough, adventure was calling, and he found himself in Austria coaching and guiding in Zellamsee. “Europe was my apprenticeship. The Austrians know how to have the right mix of fun and professionalism. I am fortunate to have spent eight seasons there. It’s the background that got me to Aspen were I have been for the last 10 winters.”

Having obtained his full teaching certification, Hilly went on to become an examiner and trainer in Australia and the US. In 2001 Hilly started private guiding and coaching in Portillo, Chile and in 2008 joined Kim to help teach and guide her Ski Adventures in Aspen and Portillo. “I love seeing guests having a new experience, improving and getting the most out of their skiing. There is nothing more satisfying than making a difference to someone’s skiing experience.” Nick Hill

"Working with Kim and Greg is sensational. Being part of a professional team that offers a great mix of personalities and skills, creates a fantastic environment for our guests. Kim is an amazing host and being part of Kim’s team is something I look forward to every year.

GREG HARMS

Greg Harms has been guiding and teaching skiing in Portillo, Chile since 1990. As a fully certified PSIA ski and snowboard instructor, Level III avalanche forecaster, EMT and fluent Spanish speaker with 16 years of history in Portillo, Greg is perfect for finding that faultless line from a local’s knowledge that is both safe and ideally suited for your ski ability.

To your Portillo experience, he brings backcountry guiding expertise from Europe and Alaska and over 280 days on the snow for the past 11 years. Greg’s passion about skiing is rivaled only by his passion about Portillo. He speaks to the unique, family atmosphere of the resort, a place where he has made intimate connections and he passes on those relationships to you. He stresses quality runs over quantity and immersion into the complete experience of Portillo.

“I immerse myself in the vacation of my clients – they are really more like friends,” he comments. Assuredly, with Greg you will make connections with locals and terrain that build not just any vacation, but an extraordinary one.

Sam Von Trapp

Born and raised at his family’s XC ski resort in Stowe VT, Sam von Trapp started sliding on snow at the age of two. After graduating from Dartmouth College in 1995, Sam taught skiing in Stowe and Portillo until he followed his sister to Aspen in 1997. A level III ski instructor, he has taught for 24 winters in both hemispheres and is fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese.

As a ski model for Ralph Lauren, Sam attracted enough attention to land himself in the pages of People Magazine’s 50 Most Eligible Bachelor issue, as well as the Sports Illustrated for Women “Sexiest Men in Sports” Swimsuit issue. You may have seen him skiing the mountains of Chile with Picabo Street in a recent ChapStick TV commercial.

Sam’s infectious enthusiasm for skiing makes him an ideal guide for Ski Adventures.

“Every time I go out my goal is to give people a day of skiing they will never forget. I love guiding in Portillo because I know that mountain better than any other ski area and can deliver epic, memorable ski experiences.”
